[vc_row][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″][vc_column_text]The Meressina project “officially” inaugurated the collaboration between the NINA Center and the Biorobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant\u2019Anna<\/a> in Pisa.<\/p>\n

The work was divided into three phases: an initial, theoretical study of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system of the newborn (on the medical side) and of materials (on the engineering side); a second one, for the design and construction of the prototype; and, finally, a third, validation through the use in simulation courses on respiratory assistance of the newborn. The final result, a 5-chamber pulmonary simulator, controlled through dedicated software, can be connected to the instrumentation for ventilatory assistance commonly used in Neonatal Intensive Care.<\/p>\n

MERESSINA project, funded by AGENAS (National Commission for Continuing Education – Italian Ministry of Health), call for proposals “Development and research on innovative methodologies in continuous training – year 2011”<\/p>\n
